    Autumn is upon us. The leaves are beginning to turn and the air is getting brisk. Now, is the perfect time for planting trees, shrubs and spring bulbs. Once the leaves have fallen our maintenance staff is available for fall clean-ups and bedding your gardens down for the winter.

    Mark Holeman, Inc. is looking forward to participating in the 2007 St. Margaret’s Hospital Guild’s Decorators’ Show House. This will be the seventh consecutive year that we have created a garden to help raise money for Wishard Hospital. Our 2004 and 2005 gardens both won the Key and People’s Choice awards. The 2007 show house will be at 4021 N. Washington Boulevard in Indianapolis’ Meridian-Kessler Neighborhood. It will be open to the public April 29th – May 14th, 2006.     David Gorden recently attended the 2006 annual meeting of the American Society of Landscape Architects in Minneapolis.

    Mark M. Holeman, Inc. has been providing design services and other assistance to the Binford Boulevard Beautification effort undertaken by BRAG (Binford Redevelopment and Growth). Several volunteer planting days held in conjunction with Keep Indianapolis Beautiful, have involved nearly 1000 people installing 200 trees and thousands of shrubs, perennials, ornamental grasses and bulbs. BRAG was presented a 2006 Gold Leaf Award by the Indiana Arborists Association in recognition of its tree planting efforts.

    For several years Mark M. Holeman, Inc. has been donating seasonal floral and plant displays in the two large pots framing the main entrance to the Indianapolis Arts Center.

    Mark M. Holeman, Inc. is proud to have been the primary sponsor of the Indianapolis Museum of Art Horticultural Society’s 2006 Summer Garden Party and auction. Proceeds benefited the ongoing improvement, protection and maintenance of the guards of the Indianapolis Museum of Art.

    Rich Blankenship, Nikki Mason, Kyle Kibler, and Nick Oskay recently served as jurors of landscape and horticulture projects at the 2006 FFA National Convention in Indianapolis.

    David Gorden was a presenter on the topic of “Planting Design” at the 2006 Annual Meeting of the Indiana Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects held in Indianapolis in October.
